You fracture a creature’s sense of friend and foe. Choose one creature you can see within range. The target must make an Intelligence saving throw. On a failed save, for the duration of the spell, the creature cannot distinguish allies from enemies.
At the start of each of the target’s turns, roll a d6:
- On a 1–2, the target does nothing but babble incoherently, lost in a hallucinatory fog.
- On a 3–4, the target uses its action to make a single weapon or spell attack against the nearest creature to it (other than itself), chosen at random if multiple are equidistant.
- On a 5–6, the creature acts normally that turn.
At the end of each of its turns, the target can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on a success.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, you can target one additional creature for each slot level above 3rd. Each target must be within 30 feet of the original target.
